During this year’s DeeCon the DCA will be showing a variety of comics adaptations. The films shown will be Zack Snyder’s WatchmenBatman: Mask of the PhantasmHardwire, Supergirl (the 1984 adaptation, not the 2015 television series – although Helen Slater, who plays Supergirl, also guest stars in the TV series as Kara’s adoptive mother!), and Heavy Metal. The films will be introduced by Professor Chris Murray, Dr. Golnar Nabizadeh and Kelly Kanayama, all from the Scottish Centre for Comics Studies. In addition, the Watchmen screening will be followed by a Q&A with John Higgins, who coloured the graphic novel.

The event will also include a panel on cinematic adaptations of comics, which will feature Heather Antos (editor for Marvel comics), John Ferguson (writer of Saltire), Clare Ferguson (managing director of Diamondsteel Comics) and Dan McDaid (writer and Doctor Who).

Full details of the event can be found on the DCA website.
