Being Human

Since 2015 The School of Humanities at the University of Dundee has hosted events for the UK’s annual Being Human Festival. This is the UK’s only national festival of the humanities and is a celebration of humanities research through public engagement. The festival is led by the School of Advanced Study at the University of London, the UK’s national centre for the pursuit, support and promotion of research in the humanities, in partnership with the Arts and Humanities Research Council and the British Academy. The University of Dundee’s participation is led by Dr Daniel Cook. Each year SCCS and DCCS produce a comic that responds to the theme of the festival.

The comics are available here:

Frankenstein Begins, or Mary Shelley’s Dundee (UniVerse/Being Human, 2015).

Time and Space: An H.G. Wells Comics Anthology (UniVerse/Being Human, 2016).

Swift at 350 (UniVerse/Being Human, 2017).

Frankenstein Returns (UniVerse/Being Human, 2018).

Frankenstein’s Dundee (UniVerse/Being Human, 2019).

Water Worlds (UniVerse/Being Human, 2019).

New Worlds (UniVerse/Being Human, 2020).
